Incentives for Long Island Residents
When pairing solar and storage, Long Island residents can access an installation incentive for the energy storage component of the system and participate in the Long Island Power Authority’s (LIPA) Dynamic Load Management (DLM) program.
Incentives
Find a ContractorStorage incentives are available for grid connected residential solar projects paired with an energy storage system. The project may be a new solar plus storage system, or an existing solar project retrofitted to add a new energy storage system. To receive the energy storage installation incentive, you must work with a participating NY-Sun contractor to install the system. Your participating contractor will apply for the energy storage incentive on your behalf. The incentive is available only for the energy storage component of the system. We offer additional incentives to residents earning less than 80% of the median income in the area. Work with your contractor to determine your eligibility.
At this time, incentives are only available to Long Island residential customers. These residential storage incentives may expand to other regions of the State as other electric utilities adopt rules that encourage these paired resources.
LIPA’s Dynamic Load Program
Energy storage can earn you payments from your electric utility, LIPA, when the demand on the grid is the greatest. These high demand times are known as peak demand times. LIPA’s DLM program will pay you to reduce your electric demand during these peak demand times, which occur a few times a year. Rather than curtailing or lowering your energy use during peak demand times, the energy storage system can allow your house to continue operating as usual without any impact. Learn more about the DLM program.
