Become a Participating EmPower+ Appliance Vendor

 

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is seeking appliance vendors for the EmPower+ Program to deliver and install energy-efficient refrigerators and freezers to households deemed eligible for no-cost appliance replacements. EmPower+ offers no-cost/low-cost energy efficiency services to low and moderate-income homeowners and renters.

As an EmPower+ Appliance Vendor, your company will have access to a new stream of customers utilizing the EmPower+ Program’s ordering and invoicing online platform. Maintain or expand your delivery territory by designating which counties in New York State you will serve.

How to apply for the program?

Read the current EmPower+ Appliance Vendor Agreement in its entirety. To apply for participation, you will need to download, complete, sign, and submit the EmPower+ Appliance Vendor Agreement Form, up-to-date insurance certificates, and W-9. Submit your application materials to [email protected].

For the purposes of the Vendor Agreement, the role of the Vendor will be to replace inefficient refrigerators and freezers for low-income families as identified by the Program. As needed, NYSERDA may add additional appliances as Program needs change.

What is expected of an appliance vendor?

  • Sign an agreement with NYSERDA
  • Agree to NYSERDA’s appliance pricing structure
  • Accept appliance orders from NYSERDA for income-eligible customers
  • Deliver and install new base model energy-efficient refrigerators and freezers
  • Remove and recycle old appliances
  • Provide invoices directly to NYSERDA for payment
  • Provide a one-year warranty for labor and materials
NYSERDA will make available the following services and support to Vendor
  • Referrals of Program participants for installation of energy saving appliances
  • Program support and training on service delivery, reporting, and payment procedures 
  • Access to NYSERDA’s NY Home Energy Portal to access Program participant project information
  • Prompt payment for eligible services provided under the Program
  • Quality Assurance (QA) and quality control with prompt feedback to the Vendor to ensure adherence to high standards of quality
  • Easy access to the Program Implementer, for prompt response to Program inquiries
