Innovation@NYSERDA
Where climate tech gets real.
Focus Area: Power Generation & Storage
The nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act) calls for a doubling of energy storage, targeting at least six gigawatts of energy storage by 2030. Innovation@NYSERDA solutions expected under energy storage include hydrogen, electrical, mechanical, chemical, and thermal-electric storage technology and product development.
As New York continues to invest and build its cleaner grid, energy storage will allow us to better use existing resources more efficiently and with fewer emissions. With storage, New York’s grid can reduce electricity from the dirtiest power plants during periods of peak demand, such as on hot summer days.
On December 28, 2022, NYSERDA and the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS) filed New York’s 6 GW Energy Storage Roadmap [PDF] to the Public Service Commission (PSC) for consideration.
