FlexTech Studies on Indoor Air Quality
NYSERDA funded technical analysis conducted by leading engineering firms for commercial office, healthcare, university, government, cultural, and P-12 school buildings to investigate COVID responsive indoor air quality improvements that account for energy efficiency.
The analysis was conducted on a minimum of 22 commercial buildings across New York State. The qualified FlexTech Consultants evaluated, documented, and disseminated to the public the energy impacts of introducing Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) and advanced air filtration methods with COVID safe operating procedures, as described in ASHRAE and Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) guidelines published at the time of these studies. Specifically, the evaluations examined safe and efficient filtration, ventilation, and HVAC controls improvements, as well as other building operation optimization measures that in conjunction with UVGI reduced operational costs and provide safe IAQ.
