Job Details
Typical Tasks
- Connect electrical wiring for initial installations
- Read blueprints, schematics, and detailed instructions
- Inspect charging stations to identify any electrical problems that may be occurring
- Repair and perform routine maintenance on EV charging stations
- Collect data, document your work, and make sure your projects follow electrical codes
- Prepare job sites by unloading materials and cleaning up when the job is done
Typical Skills
- Ability to safely work with electrical equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Comfort working outdoors and performing physical work tasks for extended periods
- Communication and customer service skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
Typical Experience or Education
- Employers may require a high school diploma or equivalent, and typically an additional vocational school certificate program
- 1–3 years of work experience is preferred, though most employers provide in-depth, job-specific training to all new hires
- Most EV Charging Station Installers are electricians by trade who chose to specialize in the popular EV market
- Previous workplace safety training and experience is a plus
