Spotlight on Innovation: Enervee
Statewide
Consumer Support for Energy-Efficiency Decisions: The Launch of an Integrated Marketplace
Enervee’s statewide NY Marketplace, launched in Summer 2022, focused on helping income-qualified New Yorkers make energy efficient purchases. The platform uses behavioral insights to improve decision-making and overcomes financial barriers by enabling instant point-of-sale rebates and Eco Financing as a payment method.
Problem
New Yorkers are faced with an ongoing need to buy energy-using products at home, driving roughly 58 million purchases annually.
However, evidence shows that low- to moderate-income residents often need support understanding energy efficiency, navigating the rebate cycle, and accessing the benefits of energy-efficient appliances and products.
Proposed Solution
“By tapping into natural replacement cycles and modern online shopping trends, the Enervee NY Marketplace can empower customers to buy energy-efficient products.”
– Anne Arquit Neiderberger,
SVP Market Development, Enervee
A statewide marketplace or platform that improves access to energy-efficient, money-saving products.
Enervee’s digital marketplace is designed to simplify the process of finding and purchasing energy efficient appliances for New Yorkers. Consumers can search for energy efficient products to meet their needs using the Enervee Score as a guide. Additionally, the platform integrates instant rebates and the option to pay with affordable monthly payments.
NYSERDA support is enabling additional development of the Enervee platform, along with funding a series of market tests. The market tests will determine the ability of the NY Marketplace to streamline access to more efficient appliances, while leveraging private capital and reducing program costs. This test will create the infrastructure and capture the data and insights needed to optimize and scale the program going forward.
