Statement from NYSERDA President and CEO and Climate Action Council Co-Chair Doreen M. Harris on Passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022
August 12, 2022
“The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 passed today makes critical investments to address the climate crisis, lower utility costs and spur renewable energy solutions needed to meet both New York State and national emissions reduction goals. Additionally, the legislation ensures investments in homes and buildings, energy system infrastructure, the electric grid, and transportation will advance climate equity in historically marginalized communities while accelerating economic growth and the creation of family-sustaining jobs. It also supports domestic manufacturing of clean energy technologies, which will bolster New York’s efforts to build out the clean energy supply chain. Ultimately, New York’s Climate Act and the federal Inflation Reduction Act will work together to deliver more affordable and cleaner energy, healthier places to live and work, and expanded economic opportunities for all New Yorkers.”
