Pam Poisson
Pam Poisson is currently the Chief Financial Officer at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), helping to deliver on NYSERDA’s mission and achieve New York’s nation-leading goals in a fiscally responsible manner. In this capacity she is responsible for budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, accounting operations, treasury management, utility conduit bond financing, residential/small commercial financing solutions, and internal controls.
Work History
Ms. Poisson joined NYSERDA in July 2021 with extensive experience in the public and private sectors. Ms. Poisson began her career in government at the U.S. Department of Labor, then spent more than two decades working in the housing and financial market arena at Freddie Mac. Shifting intentionally to clean energy and climate change, Ms. Poisson was hired as Chief Financial Officer of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) in 2010 and promoted two years later to serve as their CFO and SVP of Operations. Just prior to joining NYSERDA, Ms. Poisson managed the financial and operational components of AWEA’s merger into the American Clean Power (ACP).
Nonprofit Boards and Awards
Ms. Poisson currently serves on the Board of Repowering Schools, a charitable non-profit focused on renewable energy education, and is active in the Finance and Administration Roundtable. She recently served as Finance Committee Advisor for the American Wind Wildlife Institute and as Chair of the Endowment Committee for her local church. Ms. Poisson was named one of the “Trending 40” Best Association and Non-Profit CFOs and received several times the Freddie Mac Premier Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Business.
Education
Ms. Poisson is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of The American University’s Kogod College of Business with a concentration in Finance.
Certified in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace, she also completed a component of the Sloan School of Management Strategic Leadership Program and is a Toastmasters International “Competent Communicator.” Ms. Poisson is also a Virginia state-certified Master Naturalist.
