New York’s energy transition is advancing against a complex backdrop—inflation, high interest rates, supply chain disruptions, rapid technological change, shifting federal policy, and broader global uncertainty. As these forces shape the daily lives of New Yorkers, NYSERDA remains committed to responsible progress: serving as an objective source of information, energy planning, and technical expertise while driving the investment and innovation New York’s clean energy future requires.

The Strategic Outlook reflects a commitment to a clean energy transition that is affordable, reliable, and equitable—one that improves quality of life, expands the economy, and protects the environment for all New Yorkers.

Mission Outcomes

The Strategic Outlook is organized around six mission outcomes that structure and define NYSERDA’s priorities through 2029.

  Clean Energy Jobs & Economy: Advancing industry growth and workforce development and training programs to help New Yorkers access good jobs and share the benefits of the growing clean energy economy.

  Sustainable and Climate Resilient Communities: Supporting infrastructure improvements and investments in local solutions to help ensure New York’s communities are resilient, affordable, and healthy places to live.

  Clean Environment: Contributing to efforts to reduce emissions in New York, helping to make New York’s communities cleaner and healthier.

  Clean Electricity: Helping New Yorkers power their homes and businesses affordably and reliably with clean technologies while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

  Clean and Resilient Buildings: Working to expand access to healthier, more comfortable homes; lower energy bills for New Yorkers; and make New York’s built environment modern and resilient.

  Clean Transportation: Supporting the adoption of cleaner, more cost-effective mobility options that reduce air pollution and improve public health for New Yorkers.
